Recruitment Scams
Be Aware of Job Scams
A recruiting or job scam occurs when someone pretends to represent a real employer to steal money or personal information from job seekers. These scams are not limited to fake postings on public job boards. In many cases, scammers contact candidates directly after they apply on a legitimate company website, using phishing emails, texts, or messages that appear to come from the employer. They may request sensitive information, ask for upfront fees, or make quick job offers without a proper interview. Legitimate employers do not charge for jobs or ask for personal or financial information early in the hiring process.
